Our Chef - Leon Roelofse

The Food Guru...

Leon Roelofse’s passion for cooking began at a young age. A self-taught chef, he honed his skills through an extensive collection of cookbooks while working in the book trade.

After four years of mentorship under renowned chef Liam Tomlin at Chef’s Warehouse, Leon moved to Lydenburg, where he and his sister opened a restaurant together.
For the past six years, Mossel Bay has been his home, and for the last three, he has served as head chef at Pinnacle Point Golf Estate.

Known for his love of fresh produce and high-quality meats, Leon takes great pride in creating beautifully plated dishes that showcase his commitment to exceptional ingredients and culinary craftsmanship.

The brainchild of award-winning Chef Michelle de Jager, The Succulent is a living restaurant. Her food philosophy is simple: keep it fresh and local – think free-range chickens and freshly caught fish from Mosselbay. A lot of the ingredients used are also grown on the farm and in our very own hydroponics system. Furthermore, you can even buy local ingredients in the Deli.

Michelle is a qualified chef and a proud product of the Francois Ferreira Culinary Academy. Michelle is an award winning chef and have won regional competitions and was placed 3’rd in the National Young Chef’s competition. She is the Executive Chef of the Succulent restaurant situated on the ReedValley Estate.

The Succulent has a capacity of 70 patrons in an appealing, rustic, country setting. For an authentic, local and juicy experience – make your booking today!
