ReedValley’s Best-Selling Espumante Range
South Africans commemorate Women’s Month in August every year as a tribute to the more than 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956 in protest against the extension of pass laws to women.
At ReedValley we also celebrate female strength and resilience, and nowhere can it be seen more clearly than in the two women who hold the reigns on the farm. These two life-long friends are not only leaders in their respective professional industries but also wives and mothers, and we’re proud to call them our boss ladies!
This month we are featuring our Espumante range – which is a firm favourite amongst the ladies. We have recently extended this collection with the addition of the Silver and Rose Espumante, and both have been very popular from the get-go.
The wine term “espumante” originates from the Portuguese word, espumant which literally means “foaming” ̶ an incredibly appropriate description as we just love how the bubbles of this wine tickle your palate with every sip!
Our pétillant (perlé) wine is made from white muscadel grapes and boasts a harmony of flavours that range from luscious apricot to delicious nougat, accompanied by gentle honeysuckle aromas. Best enjoyed young and ice-cold, it’s the perfect wine for a sunny afternoon on the stoep.
The Rose Espumante is a fragrant, flame-coloured wine with a gentle floral perfume. Expect flavours of luscious tropical fruit, peach and raisins with every sip.
Our Silver Espumante is the sweetest in the range and offers a luscious, gentle honeysuckle perfume. An abundance of candied apricot, nougat, and rich tropical fruit flavours are followed by a soft, lingering finish in this wine.
Chef Cello’s recipe for Espumante
Mozambican chef, Cello, joined us last month and prepared the most beautiful Portuguese spread for our guests. As a special treat, he prepared one of Heidi’s favourite side dishes – a Portuguese Fire Salad – which pairs perfectly with our Espumante.
The Espumante collection is fun and easy-drinking, and can be enjoyed with a variety of foods, ranging from light dishes, like salads and fish, to rich, spicy dishes like peri-peri chicken. It can also be served as a simple apéritif or enjoyed with desserts or fruit.
Our limited edition Rose and Silver Espumante are available for purchase online or from our tasting room. The ReedValley restaurant and tasting venue are open from 10:00-16:00 every day of the week.
Until next month when we will be welcoming spring … Tchau!
